Dr. M. Saud Anwar

About Dr. Anwar

 

Dr. M. Saud Anwar is a specialist in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine.  At Northeastern Pulmonary Associates, Dr. Anwar, his staff and fellow physicians serve the residents of the Northeastern part of Connecticut and many neighboring communities.  He has been serving this area for the past 29 years.  He is a pillar in the local medical community and serves at many hospital committees in the Eastern Connecticut Health Network.

 

After completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois, Dr. Anwar went on to complete several fellowships including fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Yale University, fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Yale University, and a fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Yale University.  In addition to earning his speciality training, Dr. Anwar earned a Masters in Public Health from Yale University.

 

Dr. Anwar is also an accomplished Associate Professor of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Connecticut.  He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine for Rockville General Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network.

 

Dr. Anwar has multiple publications, editorials and chapters to his credit.  He is also serving as a Medical Director for the local accountable care organization in the Northeastern Connecticut and advisor to the Care Management Department of two of the hospitals.  Dr. Anwar is involved in the local community and has been an active participant in healthcare related activities at the state level.  This has included part of the Connecticut Emergency Response Commission and Connecticut Health Foundation. 

Dr. Anwar has been a recipient of multiple awards. Some of these include award by State of Connecticut from the Governor, Attorney General, certificates of appreciation by the Department of Public Health in Connecticut, by American Red Cross, Federal Bureau of Investigation by FBI director Robert Miller for community leadership and alliance building, Torch of Liberty award by the Anti-Defamation League, community leadership award by the US attorney.  He has testified regarding national and international issues at the State Legislature as well as at the Federal Legislature. 

Dr. Anwar is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Sindhi languages.  He has been a part of the American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and American College of Chest Physicians.
